Feel free to keep playing and posting, but there will be no weekly events, and now that Quidditch is over for the season anyway, I can get away with that! Muwhahahahaha

Which leads us to the annual competition for the British and Irish Quidditch League Cup! After a full week off for all players, the tournament begins on October 21st. The top six teams and two wildcards (chosen in game by the head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports drawing teams from a cauldron, and out of game by Chatzy) compete in seven total games, bracket-style.

The same oily haze that permeated the Alley not a month ago is back, though altered. Those who linked the two events last time should be wary of the random cobblestones in the Alley that sport an oily sheen October 14, 15 and 16. Those who don't, or who aren't paying attention, will find themselves stumbling a fair bit more than they're used to the day they step upon the stones. The next day, their stumbling will continue, and they'll become clumsy in other ways as well- tripping over their words or outright forgetting them, dropping things they thought they had a good grip on. Along with this will come a permeating feeling of frustration toward everything and everyone. This continues until October 19th, when they will wake abruptly at 2 am and find themselves unable to sleep (if they hadn't slept yet, they won't be sleeping now) or nap until that night at 11:59 pm. The stumbling and clumsy effects of the spell will be gone though, as will the frustration caused by the spell- though anyone would be cranky given those circumstances.

Given the similarities with the oily haze, the Ministry will reopen the investigation of this matter, but continue to find no conclusive evidence.

I'm the worst ever, this week. Luckily the wedding is over and so are any plans I have for leaving the warmth of the internet for the rest of the year.

Following a massive Muggle sighting scare on Sunday morning, the Department of Magical Transportation immediately places a ban on all broom travel that is not specifically related to Quidditch games (and forces the Department of Magical Games and Sports to up the ante on their Anti-Muggle charms.Originally stated to be 'until further notice' tthe ban continues until the 19th of October, when it is determined that all related Muggles have been Obliviated and no stories were spread to the media.

Due to this ban, on the 12th a shortage of Floo powder also occurs, and continues until the 21st (much of the office is concerned with the Portkeys needed for the League Cup in a few weeks), leaving those who are unprepared forced to walk or Apparate. This does not endear the office, and hundreds of Letters to the Editor on this subject flood the Prophet's offices.

To celebrate the Autumnal Equinox, Diagon Alley is the host to an Autumnal Carnival. A parade will kick off the event on Monday afternoon, drawing large crowds and clogging up the streets. The parading performers disappear one-by one into a plain, empty doorway in the middle of the largest greenspace at the middle of the Alley that leads to a world of tricks, treats, and entertainment. A silent and well-dressed man stands at the entrance to the doorway at during open hours (7am to midnight), taking money from any and all who wish to attend. A closing parade will take place on Sunday, after which the doorway will vanish.

The American National Quodpot Team has filled all the rooms at the Leaky this week to square off against the English National Team. Though the game isn't until Friday, they arrive on Monday to acclimate and to generally carouse, then stay until Sunday.

A magical creatures smuggling ring is unearthed in Diagon Alley when two Acromantula eggs hatch unexpectedly and devour their smugglers. Making their way out onto the streets on Thursday, they wreck havok for a few hours before one is subdued and the other is killed.

On Saturday, an accident on the Quidditch pitch makes The Prophet print a special nighttime issue to cover the event.

A strange mist hangs over small, random parts of Diagon Alley on Tuesday, August 28th, lasting all day but disappearing at 11pm. It shimmers with an oily haze, hanging just around waist-high. There are no spots where it can not be passed by without touching, but those who don't bother and just walk right through will wake up the 29th with an unpleasant feeling, of something just not right. They will be unable to shake this feeling all day; in fact it grows worse, and a physical ache is felt sometime after 5 pm, depending on when they encountered the haze. When they awaken on the 30th, they will be in for the surprise of their life- they've swapped genders! This will last for the 30th and the 31st. On the 1st of September, they will awaken themselves once again, but the soreness from the 29th will be back until the following day.

The Ministry will spend a month investigating this matter, but find no conclusive evidence.

The potatoes sold at Gregori's from August 14th to the 16th (including those purchased by restaurants and the Ministry's cafeteria) have been tainted! People who eat these potatoes won't notice any taste difference, and they don't look any different, but after eating them (at any point on Tues, Wed, Thurs) they will feel inexplicably happy. Even if they have the worst luck, or find out that a loved one has died, they will remain happy, giggly, and giddy. The effects will wear off 36 hours after eating the potato dish, and if someone had mashed potatoes for lunch then french fries for dinner, the effect will be compounded.

The Ministry will spend the next 2 weeks looking into the matter, finding it the result of several bored farmers' wives who didn't realize the effect would spread throughout their gardens.

The Experimental Charms Department is at it again, leading anyone who uses the Floo on Sunday to find their wand... changed. When those lucky people use their wands, it will not only perform the spell they want, but it will also emit a loud fart sound. If they attempt to remove or muffle the sound magically or physically, it will change from a fart sound to insults aimed at the people near the wizard or witch. Further attempts cause the wand to fart, insult, and liberally use swear words. After several high-ranking wizards find themselves unable to perform magic without embarrassment, the culprits are tracked down and removed from their posts on Monday, though they are unable to find a way to reverse the effects until Thursday morning. All affected wizards will then be asked to present their wands Thursday afternoon to have the charm removed.

Alright, folks. It's been a long race, but the time has come for our Minister to be appointed. For this, we used random.org to pull 3 numbers between 1 and 2,000 for the number of votes each candidate recieved, then chatzy to decide who got which number.

And so our new Minister is former Hitwizard and Obliviator Arnold Peasgood (1606)! Gawain Robbards came in second (1011) and Percy Weasley was a very close third with only 5 votes between him and Gawain (1006 votes). Gawain and Percy were not required to give up their previous positions in order to run and so their lives will return to normal until the next time.

I, Emily, am a newbie to this game. This, Molly, is my character. She is a Weasley and I should have introduced her days ago but I was back home for the weekend for my brother's wedding. A good time was had by all, and now I'm back (from outer space) and ready to get writing again!

So, Molly. She's 25, and was a Hufflepuff and a prefect, but not Head Girl because she's not a natural leader. She's more the middle-management type, good at supporting people and at taking instructions. She works at the Society for Distressed Witches, and volunteers with the RSPCA. She's a good hard worker with more empathy than anyone should have, and tries to get people to adopt animals. She is That Kind of Hufflepuff. She is also engaged to a muggle who she met while volunteering.

Molly is living somewhere or other in Diagon Alley, I'm not completely settled on a place yet, and she's slowly taking healing classes at the university in her lack of spare time. If you want to know more about her, you should probably read her profile!
